Baybay City, Leyte- Visayas State University (VSU) will confer 1,584 candidates through a virtual graduation ceremony on September 30, university President Edgardo E. Tulin announced in his letter to the VSU graduating class 2020 via the official Facebook page of the university last September 4, 2020.

In his letter, President Tulin said that VSU could not just let the students leave without a fitting tribute, hence a virtual graduation ceremony has been set to recognize the graduating Viscans of the VSU system.

“It is my honor to announce that on September 30, 2020, we will hold the 67th Commencement Exercises of the Visayas State University. We look forward to this #VSUGrad because it will be very special. It is virtual, yes, but it will be memorable. In fact, it will be the best graduation production we will have yet.” he said.

President Tulin emphasized that the university will hold its first system-wide virtual graduation that will include the co-graduates from VSU component colleges.

“And for the first time ever, it will be a system-wide graduation, as we will also feature your co-graduates from our component colleges in Alangalang, Isabel. Tolosa, and Villaba.” he added.

He also lauded the “COVID batch” of VSU in his congratulatory message for being resilient despite the odds that the candidates faced in this pandemic.

‘’As the father of this university, I’m very happy that you’ve made it. This is in spite of all the odds brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. You have shown to the world that since you’re a Viscan, you can.” Dr. Tulin remarked.

Furthermore, President Tulin assured that with the help of the students, the virtual graduation will be wonderful as what the university imagined it to be: “grand, cinematic, but genuine.”

Further details of the virtual graduation ceremony are yet to be released by the university.
