The Growling Manticore remained legendary as it secured its back-to-back championship in the recently concluded VSU Intramural Games 2022, October 17-19.
Formerly Guardians, the faction consisting of the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) and the College of Nursing (CoN) garnered 22 gold medals from the different sports and special competitions.
Meanwhile, the Soaring Phoenix emerged as the first runner-up with 18 gold medals, while Mystical Sphinx is the second runner-up with 14 gold medals, and Gallant Griffins obtained 11 gold medals being the third runner-up.
According to Mary Rhona D. Sumaya, the General Athletic Manager of the Growling Manticore, they didn't mind to be winning this time, but all the members of their council and the committees sacrificed their sleep and always felt stressed out.
“Wa ko nangayo na makadaog mi kay akoa ra jud kay ma enjoy sila tanan kay mao rani pang distress namo from academics, tapos ako sila giingnan na if mag have fun mo, excellence and rewards will follow through,” Sumaya added.
(I didn’t ask for them to win but for them to enjoy and have fun since [the intramurals] are our only way to distress from our academic [responsibilities]. I told them that if they will have fun, excellence, and rewards will follow through.)
The Growling Manticore plans to hold a general assembly in a few weeks and is yet to set the date of their victory party including the appreciation to the players, coaches, and all the students of the said faction.
