The Visayas State University - Society of Agribusiness Students (SABS) team has been selected as one of the 10 semi-finalists to participate in the Youth Leaders of Agribusiness Congress (YLAC) 2023 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) on May 31 to June 2.

Junior agribusiness students Ellah M. Galo, Nieramor M. Bernante, Justine John C. Boyles, and Christian Humphrey R. Lapeciros will be competing with nine participating teams from other universities in a three-day on-site intercollegiate business case competition and congress.

In an interview with Amaranth, Ellah Galo expressed her excitement while knowing that they have been shortlisted from the nationwide call for entries.

"Seeing the result that we're one of the top 10 in this national business case analysis competition made all our sleepless nights seem worth it. It is an honor to represent the VSU Society of Agribusiness Students at YLAC 2023," said Galo.

In addition, Christian Humphrey R. Lapeciros, Vice-President of the Society of Agribusiness Students, expressed the significance of YLAC 2023 to agribusiness students.

"As agribusiness students, we should constantly strive to become competent managers. We are immensely grateful to YLAC 2023 for providing this opportunity, where learners are challenged to enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. As young individuals in the agribusiness field, let us seize every learning opportunity to grow and become effective managers," Lapeciros added.

Youth Leaders in Agribusiness Congress 2023 is a nationwide business case competition organized by the UP Agribusiness Society (UPABS/BISOK).

Participants will experience a series of activities, including talks with entrepreneurs and a tour of the SEARCA Interactive Museum. Further, the winning team of the business case competition will receive monetary prizes up to PHP 50,000.
