Fuel prices in the Philippines are expected to move in opposite directions starting Tuesday, October 13, with gasoline prices projected to increase by as much as ₱1.56 per liter, diesel prices are forecast to plunge by ₱3.01 per liter, and Kerosene ₱1.77 per liter.

Department of Energy (DOE) published the said price adjustments through a Facebook post on Monday, October 12.

The projected decline in diesel prices is linked to plans to release emergency oil reserves to help ease global supply pressures.

Similar mixed price adjustments were recorded over the past two weeks. On October 6, gasoline prices rose by as much as ₱1.93 per liter, while kerosene increased by ₱3.30 per liter. Diesel prices, however, dropped by ₱1.30 per liter.

The anticipated gasoline price hike comes amid tightening regional fuel supplies following China’s suspension of refined fuel exports for October, putting upward pressure on gasoline prices across regional markets.

China, the world’s largest oil refining market by capacity, is a key supplier of finished petroleum products to the Philippines. In 2025, it supplied 3.78 billion liters, accounting for about 20% of the country’s imported finished petroleum products, second only to South Korea.

As a net importer of petroleum products, the Philippines remains vulnerable to global oil market fluctuations, with disruptions in international supply potentially affecting domestic fuel prices.
