BAYBAY CITY, Leyte – The Ormoc Kingfisher Swim Team was pronounced as this year’s overall champion in the 2nd age-group invitational swim meet last August 5 and 6 at VSU Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Ormoc Kingfishers Swim Team defeated all other swimming teams with 4, 278 points and was awarded the team with the most number of medals received. The Ateneo de Cebu Swimming Team was declared as the first runner up with their 3, 042 overall points, followed by Tacloban City Dolphins who garnered 2, 911 points.

Ormoc Kingfishers Swim Team head coach Mr. Rex dela Cruz felt proud as their team stepped up from 1st runner up in 2016 to being the champion this year. He confirmed that their team would still participate in the next year’s invitational swim meet.

Other participating teams were Dalaguete Swimming Team, Cambridge International Education Swim Team, University of San Carlos, Naval State University and Visayas State University. A total of 170 participants joined this year’s age-group swimming competition. The participating swimmers included the ages 4-20 years old.

The event was part of VSU Anniversary Goodwill Games spearheaded by the VSU’s Institute of Human Kinetics in partnership with the Visayas Integrated Schools Swimming Association (VISSA).
