Naval, Biliran – VSU Pythons defends their champ title in this years’ SCUAA games. Pythons lawn tennis women contended with Blue Sharks of Samar State University (SSU) for gold. VSU Pythons won with a score of 8-love during the singles set B, Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
For seven years straight, Pythons lawn tennis women continued their winning streak.
Lawn tennis athletes, Elgy Dasian, Metchie Ulan-Ulan, Honey Fher Casido, and Lhiz Vylett Cabanlit secured their title when they scored 8-1 in the singles set A. They lost to SSU’s Blue Sharks during doubles, 5-8, but they regained their momentum when they won the tie breaker, which is the singles set B.
Pythons contended with University of East Philippines (UEP) Buffalos’ during the elimination round pushing them to semi-finals. During semi-finals they won against Eagles of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU).
“I feel very proud that the lawn tennis women won for seven consecutive years since I was also a former athlete of lawn tennis. It’s a self satisfaction for me as an athlete and a coach to have guided my players to the top,” say Pythons coach, Ma’am Liza Leonora M. Galvez on what she felt for the achievement of the whole team.
