The ADCEP 2nd International Conference on Development Communication and 11th Scientific Meeting convened its second day, foregrounding talks and topics about science communication research yesterday, September 15, at the OVPREI RDE Hall.

The plenary panel 3 started off with a discussion about the Malusog Rice experience on risk communication, led by Chief Science Research Specialist of the Philippine Rice Research Institute and Head for the Malusog Rice Program, Dr. Ronan G. Zagada. It also highlights the agri-biotechnology advances in the Philippines in their educational curriculum as well as the approval of the GM Database, which encapsulates government-approved crop products for public access through the harnessing of digital media in biotech communication.

The afternoon session featured research presentations from different science communicators on various fields of development communication topics. Each parallel session was done simultaneously at four different locations.

Parallel session subjects ranged from Science Education in formal and non-formal contexts, Science Journalism and Media, Development Communication in the AI World, Public Understanding of One Health, especially on COVID-19, and Climate Change and Risk Communication. These presentations instigated strategies and initiatives by the panel, as well as bringing awareness to different alarming problems with repercussions that the marginalized community faces.

The second day concluded with a solidarity and social night gathering at the VSU Beach Garden, giving a chance for different faculties, students, and development communicators to converse with one another outside the conference.

The awarding of winners from each paper presentation and student competition will be announced later today, September 16, and will follow a serene city tour around Baybay City.
