Several Viscans joined the recently concluded 15th Interactive Youth Forum (IYF) 2024, hosted by the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services, Inc. (PAPSAS, Inc.), on April 17 to 19, at Crown Legacy Hotel, Baguio City.

 

With the theme "Systems and Anticipatory Thinking for Sustainable Student Activities and Stewardship," seven student leaders and two advisers from the Visayas State University (VSU) joined the event that honed leaders and student affairs and services practitioners to be effective catalysts of transformation, emphasizing how the choices made today can make significant impact on the future.

 

The VSU delegates consist of College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS)-Supreme Student Council President Giema Oroc, College of Education (CoED)-Supreme Student Council President Chris Joseph Suico, Society of Agribusiness Students (SABS) President Christian Humphrey Lapeciros, Viscan Youth Mapper Student Organization Representative Council Officer (SORCO) Tereso James Kangleon, VSU Isabel-University Supreme Student Council (USSC) President Krisa May Balegio, VSU Isabel-University Supreme Student Council (USSC) Secretary Robie Boholst, VSU Isabel- University Supreme Student Council (USSC) Board of Director Christian Rj Centino, accompanied by their advisers, Mr. Vince Lao and Prof. Gina Ellorimo.

 

In an interview with AMARANTH, CAFS-SSC President Giema Oroc eagerly expressed the significance of the forum to student leaders.

 

"The interactive youth forum solidified the student leaders' understanding of the essence of leadership. The forum reminded the student leaders on how a leader should be visionary, equipped with systematic and anticipatory kind of thinking in making sustainable actions," said Oroc.

 

Moreover, CoED-SSC President Chris Joseph Suico, shared his insight about his experience during the forum.

 

"The forum was good, knowing that we met different people with the same mindset as us. It was also an eye-opener for us because we saw people whose personalities are very different from what we are used to in Baybay. Also, the feeling was very inspiring because we witnessed people who I can say have a very promising future," said Suico.

 

The 15th Interactive Youth Forum was attended by 468 student leaders and student affairs and services practitioners from 75 participating schools from all over the country.
