BAYBAY CITY, Leyte – New school year, new student officials.

The University Supreme Student Council, led by outgoing USSC President Mark Michael Unlu-cay, kicked off a four-day training exercise for VSU’s incoming student leaders at the VSU gymnatorium on July 19, Wednesday.

Dubbed the Student Leadership Congress 2017, in partnership with KAYA NATIN Leadership Academy (KAYLA) from Quezon City, Manila, the training aims to equip up-and-coming student leaders the right skills and values for a meaningful leadership.

Keynote Speaker Marjhun A. Ricarte, former USSC Vice President and VSU chemistry graduate, opened the event with the story of his life as a student official.

All VSU student officers, including those from satellite campuses such as Alangalang, Tolosa and Isabel, came to the training. Participants will be staying in Mariposa Ladies Hall and Mulberry Men’s Hall throughout the whole congress.

According to Unlu-cay, the event that will be carried out from July 19 to 23, 2017 will constitute "life-changing" activities that will sharpen and hone students' skills as leaders.
