BAYBAY CITY, Leyte – Ormoc City Vice Mayor, Hon. Leo Carmelo L. Locsin Jr. emphasized the role of the Visayas State University (VSU) on Ormoc City’s progress.

“I am grateful that majority of employed people of our workforce are graduates of VSU which contributes to the progress of Ormoc City,” said Locsin, citing previous experience that got him close to the school.

In relation to the event, he then stressed out the efforts taken by Ormoc City in strengthening their sports program which made them dominate the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) for two years in a row.

As the three-day sports competition begins, he advised the student athletes of to note the basics of sportsmanship. According to Locsin part of this is to "not make up excuses if they lose, learn from mistakes and get back from the game, always do their best, and to encourage and show respect to their team and the officials."

“It is an honor to be here with you to bear witness to an occasion that celebrates the skill of every player and the zeal of the participant,” he ended.
