BAYBAY CITY- The VSU College of Education (CoEd) officially kicked-off its week-long anniversary celebration with the theme “Celebrating Inclusivity in Teaching and Learning” held at the VSU Gymnatorium last March 02, 2020.

The college officially marked the celebration with a parade participated by the students and faculties from the programs of Bachelor in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Culture and Arts Education, and Physical Education.

Dr. Leslie Ann L. Liwanag, an assistant professor from the Department of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences (DLABS) graced the event as an inspirational speaker. In her talk, she shared how her alma mater, De La Salle University, taught her how relevant research would lead to a better educational curriculum.

“[In De La Salle] integration of research and instruction has been an innovation. If teachers are able to conduct research, we will be much more prepared to craft a curriculum where students are part of the actual knowledge production,” shared Dr. Liwanag.

Pyjaye Brazil, CoEd Student Council Vice-President, also expressed his gratitude to his constituents for the successful turnout of the activity.

“I am so thankful to the council, though they are very busy with their academics, that they still spared some of their time to make this event possible.”

Activities such as educational fairs, spoken-word poetry, mural painting, and video documentaries among others are lined-up for this year’s anniversary.

CoEd Dean Dr. Aleli S. Villocino, Institute of Human Kinetics (IHK) Director Dr. Charice A. Limbo, and Department of Teacher’s Education (DTE) Head Dr. Bayron S. Barredo were also present during the event.

The CoEd week will culminate with a “Pasidungog Night” to give recognition to the achievements of students and faculties for the academic year 2019-2020 on March 07, 2020.
