The Association of Development Communication Educators and Practitioners’ (ADCEP) 2nd International Conference on Development Communication and the 11th Scientific Meeting of ADCEP Philippines culminates yesterday, September 16, at the Visayas State University after a comprehensive and insightful three-day conference on science communication, risk communication, and agricultural-biotechnology communication, all for social development.

Day 3 was graced by a culminating presentation of the Dholakia Foundation, which is an Indian-based foundation, specifically in Gujarat, India. It was founded by Savjibhai Dholakia with its philanthropy anchored on sustainable development goals (SDGs), promoting sustainable development towards building a more equitable world.

Furthermore, ADCEP President Dr. Ulderico Alviola handed out certificates of recognition and presented plaques for the participating schools, students, government and non-government organizations, moderators, speakers, and paper presenters.

Dr. Alviola also announced the winners of the ADCEP Philippines Students’ Competition in different categories.

For the Poster Infographics category, the proud students of Northwest Samar State University bagged first place, "Save Earth from Plastics", while the University of the Philippines-Los Baños and Biliran Province State University took 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

In the Radio Plug category, both student representatives for Biliran Province State University’s "In the Midst of Trends", and Northwest Samar State University’s "Basura Ko" shared first place. The Batangas State University finished second, while The National Engineering University placed third.

Northwest Samar State University’s "Hingyap" proudly bagged first place in the Short Film category, while the University of Southern Mindanao placed second. The Northwest Samar State University also clinched first place in the TikTok Video category with their video, "PH Energy Crisis", while the West Visayas State University finished second.

Lastly, the University of the Philippines-Los Baños’ "Byaheng Kalasangan" claimed first place in the Video Documentary, while Visayas State University’s "Salig" proudly trailed second.

The ADCEP Philippines also announced that the University of Southern Mindanao will be the next host of its 12th National Conference and Scientific Meeting.

The conference officially capped off as several development communication practitioners and students, as well as government and non-governmental organizations all over the country, were treated to delight with a tour all over the Visayas State University and the popular destinations of Baybay City, featuring the Pasalubong Center, Punta Church, the sunset view of Lintaon Peak, and the plaza at the city proper for dinner.
