Valiant Gladiator’s Daniel Christian Acasio and Sylvan Dragons’ Sheena Margarette Abayabay emerged victorious as the newest titleholders for the Ginoong Malakas and Binibining Maganda 2023 pageant held September 20, Wednesday at the VSU Gymnatorium.
Acasio and Abayabay bested four paired candidates from the four competing factions in a series of scored exposures including production number, swimwear, sportswear, and formal wear.
In an interview with AMARANTH, Abayabay expressed how she felt when she was hailed as the new Binibining Maganda 2023.
“I did not expect this crown because all the candidates are so empowered, are so grateful, amazing, and enthusiastic. That’s why I believe that this is a great opportunity for me to make a change, not just for the university, but also for the country,” Abayabay uttered.
Meanwhile, Acasio expressed his plans to continue his advocacy as the new Ginoong Malakas 2023.
“I was super overwhelmed, I didn’t expect to be the winner. I wasn’t even planning to join this pageant in the first place but here I am, getting the crown and I’m just feeling great. I would definitely use some online platforms as well as through open conversations with students not just in this university but also, I hope so in outside of the university,” said Acasio.
Further, Greyhounds’ Tommy Villaflor along with Fiona Ashantei Ver of Growling Guardians trailed as first-runners-up, Sylvan Dragons’ Jeriel Lanz Raven Item and Kareyl Mae Cabahug of Valiant Gladiators as second-runners-up, Regal Minokawa’s Dominic Chad Catipay together with Danica Ann Gonzaga of the Greyhounds took the third-runners up positions, and Growling Guardians’ Juriel Sto. Tomas and Kyla Grace Libay of Regal Minokawa rounded up the winner’s circle as fourth-runners up.
