Armed with festivity and diversified creativity, Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8) Regional Culture and Arts Festival 2023 unfolded with a culture-enriched opening ceremony at the Visayas State University (VSU) Gymnatorium last night, October 17.
Hailing from different parts of the region, delegates from 10 participating state universities and colleges (SUCs), viz., Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), Leyte Normal University (LNU), Northwest Samar State University (NwSSU), Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Samar State University (SSU), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), University of Eastern Philippines (UEP), and Visayas State University (VSU), are set to show off their outstanding skill set in the different artistic categories.
VSU President Edgardo Tulin enthusiastically graced the inaugural ceremony emphasizing the significance of championing creative expression through arts and culture.
“As a State University and College, we must give due importance to our culture and arts through any means of creative expression. So it is indeed our utmost pleasure at VSU to host the biggest culture and arts festival in Eastern Visayas this year. And I hope that we will continue to work together by uplifting each other by complementing the strengths of one another through culture and arts quality higher quality education in Region 8,” Dr. Tulin said in his welcome speech.
Dr. Jude Nonie A. Sales, VSU Cultural Director, acknowledged the different SUC-8 presidents, cultural directors, and delegations. To signify the inauguration of the PASUC-8 Culture and Arts Festival 2023, Dr. Tulin struck the ceremonial gong ending with a lively reaction from the delegates.
This four-day event will feature competitions in different art disciplines comprising music, visual arts, dance, and performing arts, and will run starting today, October 17 until October 20.
