Hoisting the banner of green and gold, Visayas State University (VSU) showed class and steadfast results in the Literary Arts (English and Filipino) category run during the first day of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8) Regional Culture and Arts Festival today, October 18, held separately in RDE Hall and VSU Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Training Center.

VSU exposed its edge as they claimed favorable outcomes after Extemporaneous Speech contestant Ciena Marie Olimberio was hailed champion in the Literary Art English category.

A handy pen and grit to a powerful finish wrapped the second-day event as Essay writing contestant Efren Cyril Bocar clinched second place in the same category. The contestants are also part of the Literary section of the VSU Culture and Arts Center (VSU-CAC). Jash Niño Diaz also seized the fourth spot with his critical composition for Pagsulat ng sanaysay Filipino Literary Arts Category.

The regional leg of PASUC commenced the four-day event yesterday, dubbed the Culture and Arts Festival hosted by the very own institution with the theme: "Championing Artistic Excellence, Celebrating Solidarity" "Pagkamit ng Masining na Kahusayan, Isang Pagdiriwang ng pagkakaisa". Winners of the festival will represent Eastern Visayas in the national stint for PASUC Culture and Arts Festival next year.
