With the passion to serve and to be a better representation of the student body, ten delegations from different respective student councils of Visayas State University (VSU) attended the recently concluded Philippine Association of Campus Student Adviser (PACSA)  Midyear National Convention held in Boracay, Philippines, last November 19-21, 2023. 

The three-day event united student leaders from all over the country, stemming from the National Capital Region (NCR), Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao regions aiming to build a strong, vibrant, and diverse community. 

 

Included in the event are the 10 delegates of different student leaders from the VSU University Supreme Student Council Federation (USSCF) Vice Chairperson Jhon Rey Gardon, VSU-Main USSC Secretary Joy Sarah Mae Solamo,  College of Management and Economics (CME) President Sueziah Divinee Gabon, College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Vice President Venus Aldian, College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) Vice President Chrischaelle Sofia Minardo,  College of Education (CE) Vice President Djenica Raye Pogoy, College of Engineering and Technology (CET) Vice President Jeriel Nuñez, College of Forestry and Environmental Science (CFES) - Board of Director Lowella Royce Conag, College of Nursing (CON) Vice President Karl Ial Flandez, and College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Vice President Yumilka Dela Fuente along with their Adviser, Mr. Raymund Igcasama.

 

With the theme “Leadership With A Cause: Living With PACSA Influence”, the event honed leaders to not only be just mere leaders of their respective councils but to be effective leaders for change, emphasizing the importance of holistic development in cognitive, psychological, emotional, and spiritual aspects of student leaders.

 

Further, the speakers that came from different regions of the country hosted activities on separate occasions and organized on-the-spot competitions, to encapsulate the uniqueness of each region and vast culture of the Philippines to the attendees. 

 

Moreover,  VSU-CAFS Vice President Minardo participated in the search for Mr. and Ms. PACSL and showed wit and excellence, ultimately bagging  Ms. Photogenic, Ms. Congeniality, Best Boracay Attire for minor awards, and the Ms. PACSL Second Runner-Up title.

 

Mr.Igcasama, the VSU student leaders adviser also took part in the event he represented the Visayas Core Group and pitched Project SAVEME (Sustainable Actions Vital for Empowering Mankind and the Environment) for a chance to win the PACSA Grant amounting to 10,000 pesos.
