As a time for grooves and jam with the music swaying away from academic loads, the University Supreme Student Council (USSC) presented the Y2K Students’ Night as part of the Visayas State University (VSU) Centennial Anniversary celebration, last April 21 at the VSU Upper Oval.

In an interview with AMARANTH, USSC President Ryan Ilaida underscored the importance of the Students’ Night amidst the recent whirlwind of challenges in both academics and the environment.

“It is really important to have the students’ night because the past months have been a rollercoaster ride, full of uncertainty and excitement. From the academic stress to the scorching heat, a lot of things have happened and a lot of anticipation has been crushed,” President Ilaida said.

He also added that while it is integral to remain steadfast to the future, it's also important to have fun while doing so.

Moreover, various performances gave color and life to the night with an opening performance by the different factions from the University Inter-Dormitory Student Body (UISB). Local talents like Amadeus Garcia, Renz, Cristina Perales, Banana Bread, The Sundaes, and Lemon Squared also took center stage, with DJ YLRMN as the special guest.

Beyond the musical spectacle, the Viscan Community also showcased their ingenuity with Y2K-inspired attire, from baggy jeans and crop tops to dazzling accessories and bucket hats.

VSU President, Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, along with the Vice-President for Student Affairs and Services, Dr. Aleli A. Villocino, also graced the event that lasted until midnight.
