The Visayas State University - Society of Agribusiness Students (VSU - SABS) team has been selected as one of the six semi-finalists to compete in the Youth Leaders of Agribusiness Congress (YLAC) 2024 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) this coming June 19 to 21.

Junior agribusiness students Allan R. Capa, Kirk Lowell Pajanustan, Eugene Aquino, and Darah Lyn Jandayan, will be competing with five participating teams from other universities in a three-day on-site intercollegiate business competition and congress.

The winning team of the business case competition will have the chance to take home a cash prize of up to PHP 50,000.00

In an interview with AMARANTH, Aquino eagerly shared how the team has been preparing for the competition.

“We are currently undergoing training that includes solving sample cases and participating in public speaking with our coach to build our confidence, improve our ability to express thoughts and ideas, and enhance our analytical and critical thinking skills,” said Aquino.

Meanwhile, Allan Capa, VSU SABS team leader, hopes that this opportunity will inspire agribusiness students “to step up and showcase their knowledge and management thinking.” He added that it is an honor to represent VSU in the competition.

The YLAC 2024 is an annual business case competition organized by the UP Agribusiness Society (UPABS/BISOK).

Participants will experience a series of activities, including talks with industry experts and top-notch professionals, which will also feature a series of workshops, a SEARCA Interactive Museum and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) tour, and a chance to receive internship and employment opportunities with ROMARCOM International Marketing.
