Ryan C. Ilaida, the current President of the University Supreme Student Council (USSC) at Visayas State University's (VSU) Main Campus, has been elected as the newest Student Regent of the VSU System for the academic year 2024-2025.
Ilaida, a senior Filipino major student in Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED-Filipino), will be representing all five campuses within the VSU system with his new role as Student Regent being the voice of the student body across the university.
He boasts an extensive track record of leadership within the university, notably after previously serving as the USSC Vice President for the 2023-2024 school year and is now leading the VSU-USSC Baybay for 2024-2025.
Further, the official results of the 2024-2025 USSC Federation Officer elections, held on August 26, listed the following new officers:
- USSC VSU-Tolosa President Phil Albert E. Renomeron, elected Federated Vice Chairman
- USSC VSU-Alangalang President Gerald M. Caones, elected Federated Secretary
- USSC VSU-Isabel President Cyd Charist S. Praico, elected Federated Treasurer
- USSC VSU-Villaba President Ariel L. Catamora, elected Federated Auditor
- USSC VSU Baybay Vice President Sanny M. Dumpa Jr., appointed P.I.O.
During his last campaign for the university-wide elections, Ilaida emphasized key initiatives such as reviving the Tuyok System, promoting a mental health awareness campaign, and the YACAP-USSC. He also committed to improving transparency by ensuring that his administration provides regular and clear financial reports amidst issues from the previous administration.
USSC Baybay Vice President Sanny M. Dumpa Jr. is set to assume the position of USSC-Baybay President.
