Mark Michael Unlu-cay, CAFS SSC President, and senior Development Communication student, has been elected to the VSU student regent position with a 9-12 vote on July 16.

A poll conducted by Amaranth during the last VSU student assembly showed that Unlu-cay was one of the top two candidates favored by the students for the highest seat in the supreme student council, along with Hexelsa Nuñez who was elected USSC auditor.

Outgoing USSC president Dexter Relevo expressed his confidence in Unlu-cay and the newly elected officials, and praised them for their cooperative spirit.

“I am happy that they already talk, and they elected the people that they believe are right for the position. And I can see that they are cooperative because after the election there were no hard feelings. Not like before that people were divided immediately after the election”

The following are the newly elected officials set to take their place in the Supreme student council:

  • President Mark Michael-Unlucay (CAFS)
  • Vice-President Efren Osmeña (CAS)
  • Secretary Jeffrey Curay (CE)
  • Treasurer Larrel John Andrade (CoN)
  • Auditor Hexelsa Nuñez (CVM)

The newly elected officials are set to assume office on August 2, 2016. Outgoing USSC President Dexter Relevo stated that he would walk incoming president Unlu-cay through the intricacies of the position within the two week transition period. Relevo said he would also personally take charge of getting Unlu-cay up to speed with the plans, student concerns, legalities, and problems concerning the highest student governed body in the University.
