Visayas State University (VSU) Pythons’ Daniel Acasio and University of the Philippines Tacloban (UPT) Fighting Maroons’ Tiffany Grace Ronato were proclaimed winners as the newest titleholders of Mister & Miss State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA-8) 2023 while Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) Praying Mantises’ Bien Aris Siguan and Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) Sealions’ Jessajane Belic bagged the Mister & Miss Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8) 2023 titles, during the Mister and Miss SUC 8 2023 pageant held October 24, at the VSU Gymnatorium.

Hoisting the banner of green and gold, Visayas State University (VSU) showed class and steadfast results in the Literary Arts (English and Filipino) category run during the first day of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8) Regional Culture and Arts Festival today, October 18, held separately in RDE Hall and VSU Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Training Center.

Erica Gines, a senior Development Communication student, and Ryan Ilaida, a third-year BSED major in Filipino student and the incumbent Vice President of the University Supreme Student Council (USSC) of VSU Baybay, have made their mark at the national level after being selected as National Officers for Media and Communications and Strategic Partnerships, respectively, of the National Executive Council (NEC) at the G17 University Ambassadors Consortium - Philippines. With the passion to help and serve, they are now heading towards the national stage to promote the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs).

As the biggest culture and arts festival of Region 8 for this year comes to its end, two delegates from Visayas State University (VSU) secured places in the top five spots during the fourth day of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8) Regional Culture and Arts Festival at the Visayas State University, October 20.

As this year’s Intramurals come to an end, one faction waves its banners on high as it sees through its battles through thick and thin, gathering trophy after trophy before emerging with the final victory during the closing ceremony of the SALINGKUSOG 2023, held at the Visayas State University (VSU) Gymnatorium, September 22.

With brushes, tune, and rhythm, Visayas State University (VSU) secured numerous wins by landing in the top five ranks in visual arts and music categories during the second day of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC-8) Regional Culture and Arts Festival, held separately at the VSU Amphitheater and VSU Convention Center, yesterday, October 19. 

Prior to the conclusion of his eight-year term this October 31, Dr. Edgardo E. Tulin, VSU President, delivered his final State of the University Address (SUA) earlier today, October 9, during the 2023 University Academic Convocation at the Visayas State University (VSU) Gymnatorium.

The start of this year’s intramural games was marred with consecutive reports of disqualifications of certain student-athletes. The verdict came after students allegedly have failed to secure a medical certificate and sports clearance which is among the basic requirements for someone to qualify in the play-off of the intramural games. The issue stirred public opinions with Viscans quelling on the lack of an organized process among the involved departments and offices in the planning of SALINGKUSOG 2023.
